Not sure exactly how auto selection should work, but when set to auto, ALL 5Ghz ssids are on the same channel. 2.4 Ghz SSIDs are not on different channels. Only 2 are being used (channel 1 and 11).

Hey Todd - actually auto channel selection works today by scanning when the access point is first booting up. In basic terms the AP executes an RF scan and chooses the channels accordingly. 
This is not to say that the channels chosen are always optimal (and we are working on a feature to execute auto-channel optimization at will). 
However - out of curiosity - do your channels change when you reboot your wireless access points?
