New SNMP feature default to "On"
ADI Product Team
Hi Nick,
Thanks for sharing your feedback!
While auto-populating device data automatically would streamline onboarding, defaulting SNMP (specifically v1) to "On" across all network devices presents significant security risks. Because SNMPv1 transmits credentials in cleartext using standard community strings, enabling it by default could expose sensitive device information on customer networks.
To align with security best practices, SNMP polling remains an opt-in feature where credentials (preferably SNMPv3 where available) can be explicitly configured.
We appreciate your suggestion and are continuously exploring ways to make third-party device onboarding easier without compromising network security!
