I really want to bump this again over a year later. You have given us so many tools to organize devices, but I'm never going to get around to getting everything in the right room or other details when it takes 6 CLICKS across TWO PAGES to rename a single device.

I 100% degree. As we use the same static IPs for the same device in every project would it not to make sense for their to be away uploading a template that if the device exists on the network it automatically gets the same default name. And then as the OP stated being able to further edit the names from the main device list for each device to suit the individual project.

How does this not have 200 upvotes already? Renaming devices is tedious and slow. Even after you rename them, you have to go to a different screen or hit refresh before you can turn on alerts. So annoying!

This would be huge - it's such a painful process to setup a site today, as you have to rename it, and move it to the new room, then select if you want an alert or not. Doing more of this from the main screen would be a huge win.
